Research Volunteers
The Arson Research Project will take place in Fall 2012.
The research project requires the assistance of Certified Fire Investigators as volunteer study participants and research proctors to assist with the administration of the study.
CERTIFIED FIRE INVESTIGATORS Volunteer Fire Investigators must be certified, working fire investigators conducting cause and origin investigations, part-time or full-time, for either a public or a private agency. Proof of certification (CFI or CFEI) and agency affiliation will be required. Volunteer participants will be given a specific time and date to arrive on site to participate in the study. Scheduling preference will be given to those volunteer fire investigators that are traveling from outside the Bay Area It is expected to take participants approximately four hours to complete the examination process, consisting of registration, scene examination and post-examination questionnaire. We ask that participants have six hours available for the project in case the process takes longer than expected or we get behind schedule. Six hours of continuing education credit through the California Conference of Arson Investigators (CCAI) will be awarded to volunteer fire investigators that participate in the study. |
RESEARCH PROCTORS No experience or certification is required to be a proctor. Proctors will be assigned to observe and assist volunteer fire investigators in a manner proscribed by the study. Proctors must be at least 18-years-old. Proctors will be asked to volunteer for either one or two 4-hour shifts on one of the days of the study. |
